A brand merger

  • UnboundEd walks side-by-side with educators on their professional learning journey, helping them cultivate the mindsets, knowledge, and skills to deliver grade-level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful instruction. Teal was tasked with branding the newly merged UnboundEd organization—which has a track record in effective, equity-focused professional learning. With the merger, UnboundEd was able to offer a broader set of equity-focused services, precisely when schools needed it most, making it an ideal time to reach out to new clients and persuade current clients to expand beyond the services they currently receive.

    The new logo was an evolution of the idea that education should be “unbound”. We made this clear through a refined, clean wordmark with a distinguished “Ed”.

    We worked closely with the client, along with an additional messaging partner, to develop the new brand strategy. Teal led workshops and learning sessions that ultimately shaped the new brand framework including the vision statement, mission statement, tagline, core values, value proposition and differentiators, and voice and tone.

    Teal also developed a logo system that gives UnboundEd’s programs the flexibility they need. There are three versions of sub-brand logos they can select from for various uses—with “UnboundEd” or the sub-brand leading or with both equally weighted.

    A flexible brand that shows up for its audiences

    The strategic update to UnboundEd’s brand establishes (for new audiences) and reinforces (for existing audiences) the newly merged organization as the national leader in the transformation of daily teaching and learning practice to advance equity. Teal developed ways to tailor the brand to service each of their audiences—from potential and existing clients to current and potential funders—in the various ways that each needs.

  • Ushering in the Brand Smoothly

    Teal did a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure a smooth brand handoff with the client team. We developed a a comprehensive brand guide and cohesive collateral templates that we rolled out to serve as a robust foundation for UnboundEd to introduce the new brand to the world.

  • Extending the brand to the website

    The new UnboundEd website needed make a compelling case to its audiences to engage in UnBoundEd’s broad, seamless set of instructional programs and services. We achieved this with a clear user experience and a elegant design system that directs users to the content they need quickly.

    To keep the energetic spirit of the brand alive on the website, we also added in a few moments of playful animation on the homepage and key landing pages.
