Elevating MEI’s Digital Presence
Teal Media partnered with the Middle East Institute (MEI) to redesign its website to modernize its structure, enhance content discovery, and reflect MEI’s dual identity as a leading U.S. policy think tank and cultural institution.
Blending Policy, Analysis & Culture
The Middle East Institute sits at a unique intersection of policy, education, and the arts. The new site needed to uplift both its research output and its rich cultural programming. We partnered with MEI to create a site that highlights their role as a convener of diverse perspectives—bringing together experts, leaders, and communities through track II dialogues, flagship events, and influential thought leadership. By thoughtfully integrating policy content with arts and culture narratives, the site reflects MEI’s commitment to fostering understanding through open dialogue, engagement, and exchange.
Reimagining Policy & Analysis for Better Discovery
Organizing MEI’s extensive content into a clear, dynamic system that makes expert insights easier to find and explore.
The new site reimagines how MEI presents its research and analysis, making its extensive library of publications easier to explore. Curated topic and region pages surface timely content, highlight relevant experts, and pull in the latest articles, commentary, books, and more. The redesigned Research & Analysis landing page organizes content by popular topics, regions, and product types, and also promotes the Middle East Journal, MEI’s peer-reviewed publication that offers in-depth regional analysis.
Another important element of the redesigned was to highlight policy experts. We created detailed bio pages that feature each expert’s background and recent work.
To top it off, an underlying robust taxonomy powers dynamic content so pages stay fresh and users can quickly find what they need.
A Distinct Cultural Experience
The new design creates an immersive cultural hub that spotlights MEI’s gallery, exhibitions, and events while reinforcing its commitment to cross-cultural understanding
MEI is also home to a vibrant Arts & Culture Center, and the new site needed to reflect the essential role it plays in the organization’s mission. This section called for a distinct design—one that feels warm, human, and rooted in the cultural richness of the Middle East while still aligning with the broader brand. The updated approach brings this to life by spotlighting artwork, photography, and other cultural assets in a visually inviting way.
The Arts & Culture pages elevate the Art Gallery, upcoming exhibitions, performances, and the Oman Library within a more immersive digital environment. Within the Gallery, users can browse exhibitions, explore cultural events, and engage with an interactive slideshow of featured artwork. Flexible event integration also makes it easy for users to discover cultural programming alongside policy events, reinforcing MEI’s commitment to cross-cultural understanding.
