National Immigration Law Center

Reimagining a Brand & Website for Bold Change.
three collages of immigrants against colorful backgrounds

The National Immigration Law Center (NILC) advocates for low-income immigrants and their families, working at the intersection of immigration, economic justice, health, education, and workers’ rights. NILC needed a rebrand and website redesign to reflect the full scope of their impact and align with their visionary goals.

Their old brand and website were no longer capturing the defiant energy of their work. The website was difficult for users to navigate and lacked the flexibility NILC staff needed to accurately convey the breadth of their work.

THE BRAND

  • Teal’s Solution

Teal created a brand concept embodying “The Fighter” within NILC—a powerful, gritty, and bold visual identity that exudes passion and energy. We modernized their logo while keeping the iconic torch as a nod to NILC’s legacy, symbolizing hope and progress.

Through brand workshops, mood boards, and a comprehensive brand guide, we aligned the new brand with NILC’s values, giving them a cohesive voice and visual style that could be consistently applied across platforms.

    THE WEBSITE

  • Collage of NILC web components

Using a “Build-Your-Own” layout system, NILC now has a website that allows them to customize pages without the confines of overly rigid templates. The system was carefully crafted to provide this flexibility while still maintaining some restrictions where appropriate to ensure effective content governance.
