The primary objective of the website redesign was to restructure existing content and develop more dynamic layouts, enabling the Grassroot Soccer team to effectively showcase the impact of their work. This involved a thorough reevaluation of information architecture, user experience, and narrative during the discovery and content strategy phases. By taking a collaborative approach and working through wireframes in our initial workshops with the Grassroots Soccer team we were able to efficiently tackle how to clearly position Grassroots Soccer as an adolescent health organization and articulate its key programs and their results within the lens of being a rigorous health organization that is driving real impact for youth across the globe.
Grassroots Soccer needed to incorporate their new logo and colors into the website redesign and convey a fun, dynamic culture visual. The design system needed to strike a balance between the organization’s playful and serious sides, showcasing the human element while highlighting the organization’s research-based approach to tackling serious issues. Grassroots Soccer’s programs are well-researched and rigorously tested; they are not simply about getting kids playing sports. The website redesign aimed to capture the organization’s hopeful, fun, and legitimate vibe, pushing brand elements in distinct directions to achieve this balance.
Inspired by the visual language of soccer, we were able to turn a few shades of green and an existing logo into robust brand elements and bouncing animations that express Grassroot Soccer's playfulness balanced with the serious impact of their work. We designed this site to proudly feature their gorgeous photography, and to show the sophistication and importance of soccer as a tool for life-saving health education.
In order to scale effectively, the website and system required a dynamic and customizable design system, giving the Grassroots Soccer team the ability to feature important news and priorities and showcase the dynamic nature of their work and local partnerships. Not only do the animations and visuals look and function beautifully but they translate gracefully on mobile.
Additionally, with the website playing a central role in the overall communications strategy, Grassroots Soccer can easily create one-off landing pages and link up content to drive clicks through other communications channels.
Throughout the whole process, we felt that we were working with a true partner in achieving our goals. Teal helped us create a website we are proud of; one that we feel clearly presents our mission, approach, impact, and culture to the world – ultimately helping us reach our key audiences with our story in a compelling and persuasive way that resonates.
